Liquid Tin Anode Solid Oxide Fuel Cell

Dr. Thomas Tao

ABSTRACT

Liquid tin anode solid oxide fuel cell (LTA-SOFC) developed by CellTech power is a direct carbonaceous fuel conversion fuel cell. LTA-SOFC converts hydrocarbons and carbon directly without fuel processing or reforming. LTA-SOFC offers simplicity, low cost and high efficiency and can operate on commonly available hydrocarbon fuels, potentially coal and biomass as well. In small scale applications, the ability to operate directly on military logistic fuel JP-8 has created strong interest from military customers. CellTech Power is engaged in a focused effort to improve power density and durability for this early market. Successful military application will pave the way for much larger commercial markets for in recreation, APU’s and eventually coal power plants.
