ABSTRACT
"Evolution is: diversity, selection and time". The process occurs naturally over millions of years (Darwin's finches). However, once humans begin to affect the process, the time frame is compressed. Over a period of 10,000 years, agriculturalists developed maize from teocintle without having a sophisticated understanding of genetics. The invention of gene engineering compressed the time dramatically so that engineered organisms can be developed very rapidly. Modular has automated this process so that we can execute many projects simultaneously, and on a larger scale that is possible without the automation. This leads to a further time compression.
