Omega Chi Epsilon
Omega Chi Epsilon, the Chemical Engineering Honorary Society, had its inception at the University of Illinois in the spring of 1931. The purpose of the Society is to recognize high scholastic achievement and emphasize desirable personal traits. In particular the promotion of high scholarship, service to others, fellowship and original investigation is stressed. To qualify for membership in Omega Chi Epsilon, Chemical Engineering seniors must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and have a strong desire to serve others. The Theta Chapter here at WVU was established in 1958. Some typical service activities over the past years include tutoring programs for undergraduates, fund raising activities, donation of supplies for the Annual Chemical Engineering semi-formal, and teaching computer skills related to computer design to the junior class. A special award is presented each year to the chemical engineering senior who is judged by his or her peers to exemplify the high ideals of the society.
