Besides doing their course work, students can develop their professionalism by participating in several professional student organizations that provide contact with professional engineers as well as other engineering students. These societies include the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Society for Biological Engineering, and Omega Chi Epsilon, the honorary society for chemical engineers. The Department encourages and assists students in gaining valuable work experience through a summer internship program.
